Independent Status Reports (February 2, 2004)
Monday February 2nd, 2004By Brian King
February should be an interesting month and will likely see the next major releases of Mozilla Firebird (0.8) and Mozilla Thunderbird (0.5). Each milestone will bring greater usability, better features, and increased stability. At least that's the plan! In the meantime, developer's are continuing to dream up and create their extensions to make the software even more attractive. A case in point... in this month's report read how you can monitor the weather in your local area from the Thunderbird email client.
Note: If anyone has an update that they would like included in the next report, go here, or have any feedback on the structure of the reports in general, feel free to contact us.
Weather — v1.0 beta
(Show current weather conditions in Mozilla Thunderbird)
This is the initial release but it works fine for me on both Thunderbird 0.4 and the latest nightlies.
If anyone's interested in contributing, just let me know.
Dictionary Search — v0.2
(Lookup words on webpage in an online dictionary)
Dictionary Search 0.2 was released on 29th of January. You can now select the online dictionary you want to use. On the homepage you can find a list of dictionaries for quite a number of languages.
easyGestures — v2.5.1
(Adds UI with mouse gestures and customizable actions)
This new eG features an option to use small icons for those who prefer a small UI.
You now have no reason for not using it (read this http://easygestures.mozdev.org/faq.html).
Give it a try and enjoy the efficiency and comfort of a pie menu.
QuickNote — v0.5
(A note taking extension slightly modeled after 'Post-It', 'Sticky', and the 'Quick Notepad' plugin for jEdit.)
0.5 is a huge release with many many new features. (ChangeLog)
This is a much needed upgrade for QuickNote users. Feedback welcome!
